Very good maps app

This is simply the best offline maps application on the iTunes market. Now I dont go travelling without the maps of a region Im travelling to preuploaded.

Offline maps

Offline maps - ok

One of the best for offline maps

Rich features, but quite complicated controls. Downloading wikipedia and wikivoyage is very good idea (AFAIK the only app, that provides offline wikivoyage), however article display quality is rather poor.

Very useful app

Its a great app, the only thing I would definetely add is the possibility to build up and rebuild routes off line. Sometimes, when you miss you turn its very tricky while driving in an unknown city to get back to you route as the voice prompter just helplessly informs you of the obvious - you are off the route and check the map. So I have to switch to another app for urgent navigation. Otherwise its perfect.

so-so and even worse

It would take a Sherlock Holmes to find on your map almost any subway station in Moscow, with some just missing. What a foolish travesty of a map! It shows a pub near a subway station, but not the station itself! Its crazy! Delete it for Gods sake!

Pocket Earth

By far the best geo app for real voyagers and adventurers. Go on Geo Magik. Bravissimi!

Cant get lost now.

Love that it works offline.

Great Maps

This app works great on my iPod Touch and iPad. I appreciate having maps and Wikipedia content downloaded and available while walking around away from WiFi. I like the stored pins on the map, convenient for quickly finding the locations that I have marked in advance.

Excelent app

We used it in a trip from Cali, Colombia to Paraguay and back. It was great. Later in trips in Europe, just as good. An excellent travel tool for people who travel with phones without dat connection on the road

Most useful app ever

Great app. Gets the job done and then some. Used it all across Europe! Worth every penny.

Requires Internet access to input street address

What a surprise! This "offline" map app requires Internet to input your destination!!! No matter how good your maps are, if I can not input my destination, what usefulness does it have?

Perfect Travel Companion

Ive used this app in New Zealand, ocean cruises, European river cruises and on many motor trips, its performed flawlessly. Moving around in the app could be a bit more intuitive and an ETA feature would be great. You can lose yourself reading the Wiki notes and you are completely independent of the Internet, once you download the maps.

Excellent app

The detail is fantastic and the ability to save maps off-line is very useful.

Not really offline navigation

While I found this little app very helpful for planning our driving trip in southern France from home, I was very disappointed that it isnt really an offline nav system. If you stray off your course, it merely states to return to the course. It cant re-solution you back to the course like a car nav system. Not sure why since the car nav systems are also offline. This is a serious limitation if you make a wrong turn in a busy downtown area where the streets are a confusing labyrinth!

Makes it easy to plan and navigate

This is an update to a previous review. And another glowing review. Many small but handy improvements have been made at user requests, making the app super easy to read and use. The developers continue to be super-responsive to user requests. It really shines on an iPad size screen. Better and handier than any printed map, works very well offline to avoid roaming data charges. Yes, thats right. Using downloaded (for free, from PE servers) maps, you have complete GPS enabled maps of a quality equal to any, without a data connection. (Note: To be scrupulously accurate, maps must be downloaded over WiFi. So, plan before you go! For the truly footloose and fancy free, this might seem an imposition or limitation. But for those of us who like to plan, its actually a Very Good Thing. Download your relevant maps while youre planning your trip, and make Pins. Pins can hold a wealth of information in their Notes. Phone numbers, reservation info, just slap all of it in your Pin. Cool.) Anyone who travels knows there are, depending where you go, many times when an online connection is either spotty/unreliable or just not available. No more frustration! I dont have to be online! Topographical overlays are now available. Hikers and bikers will appreciate those, but even someone planning to walk in the city, or take a drive into the hills, can see what theyre in for. Very handy! Recommended without reservation to anyone who wants maps.

My Hiking Buddy

I use Pocket Earth every Monday for our weekly hike in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I track each hike as a way not to get lost. It has rescued our group on several occasions mostly in snow. I also used Pocket Earth on a Canadian Maritimes 2000 mile road trip. It was our only navigation aid. On my wish list is offline routing and auto routing for road routes. I highly recommend this app.

Just started

So far I like what I see, I have a trip coming up to Europe, Ill come back and tell u how was it till then???????

Offline is great feature

Sometimes here there is no signal so you cant connect to the network. But this offline feature for a map is a big help.

This is the only one...

First, I would have given PE Pro Five Stars if it had two additional Routing features: 1)offline-Route Creation/Editing and 2) Calculation of Imported GPX Routes. Aside from those two Routing features, this App does it all - and very well. I hope in the not to distant future they will obtain those Routing enhancements. Offline OSM Maps are rendered very fast and the only feature l would like to see is the ability change the OSM map theme (how the map feature look) so I could enhance the contrast of the map background and the small white colored roads. This is a great app!!!
