Good Function

App has good function but offline routing does not always work.

Best offline Gps app

Simply the best app for offline navigation

Love it

This app is wonderful for world travelers. We use it and rely upon it every time we travel. It is the best!

The Best

Of all the offline mapping programs, this one is the absolute best. The import / export of GPX tracks and the Topo feature put this in a class by itself. There is no competition. This is The App for mapping. I am no longer temped to carry my Garmin Oregon GPS for outback long haul trekking. Pocket Earth Pro does everything I need.

Best app ever until today.

I have used this app regularly for off-road dirtbike riding, hiking, and mountain bike riding for the last two years, and I have loved every day of it until today. Now it is crashing nonstop, I am completely unable to open the app. The app is entirely unusable, and I have deleted it and reinstalled it multiple times without any success. Unless the app developer fixes this problem, as a buyer I would beware.

Hands down the best app on my phone.

I wrote a previous review criticizing this app for crashing on me, but I think I may have been premature. The problem seems to have been fixed once I tried MULTIPLE times to reinstall the app on my phone. However now that I have it back, I am ecstatic that this is working perfectly again. I use this app (the pro version) almost every single day to plan for hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, dirtbike riding, and then even on long road trips to save on data. Hands down the best app on the App Store!

Beautiful but needs fluid contact/map integration - NO Manual :-(

I input several street addresses of friends & businesses. App is thorough and maps are nice. BUT placing a marker on a map for existing contacts is excruciating work. Even after looking a contact up by name, a separate search is required by complete street address. Then the marker has to be renamed from a generic one to the particular contact. Once that accomplished each one can be grouped by icon and color. Very nicely detailed. I would buy this again, but it is not intuitive for existing contacts. App searches contacts without performing anything beyond displaying a name and address! NO USER MANUAL :-( I actually found a business app which plots the entire contact list (with each ones info) onto a nationwide zoom able/searchable map is my goto app. POCKET EARTH is however Very Useful for downloading detailed maps for ONLY those states or cities which you want to utilize offline. It has other perhaps useful features (e.g., tracking, which I have not yet used) and gives turn by turn directions just like my cars built in GPS. Handy on foot when visiting a community, and probably for someone traveling on public transportation. To Devs: this is a visually Attractive App requiring a degree of polish AND a User Manual. I use many kinds of apps regularly, and this would be a real winner for me if contact search was integrated tightly with marker placement on a map.

Love the tracks feature

I was looking for an app where I could track on maps where Ive been and this is the app am I am incredibly happy with the feature.

Great on Hikes

Has proven quite useful and fun on hikes.

Not worth

Offline GPS doesnt work.

4 stars, 5 if you get navigation working offline

4 stars, 5 if you get navigation working offline

Just awesome ...

Amazingly informative, useful, and detailed app. Use it every time we travel--Canada, US, Europe.

Unable to do one basic thing I bought it for

I had anticipated going into an area that has no cell signal. So I loaded this up on my iPad (wifi version) and downloaded the required maps so when I got waypoints, I could generate routes without needing to be online. Even given two sets of GPS coordinates, I could not create routes between one and the other. It kept trying to connect to a routing server, or needing to find my current GPS location! That was the one job this app had during my event, and it failed spectacularly.

Awesome App

One of the best map and navigation apps available. Offline downloads for the world with topographical maps available for hiking or overland treks. Print out a map and laminate it for a reliable backup.

Excellent! Used 6 weeks in NZ and Australian Gold Coast!

This is a very powerful app with lots of functions. Online I would plan out our route for the day with several points of interest. I would save the route, then use it offline to move about a city or the countryside. It was particularly useful at the end of day to enter a town and find our lodging. The maps are accurate and take up little space. If youve got a good GPS signal, your position will be noted on the map. Mostly common sense, local landmarks, street names, restaurants, etc. keep you on track when you are offline. Ive used the app in Oregon and in Argentina as well. Ive no complaints. I highly recommend it. Though the program is intuitive, the one drawback, is the light instructional material to learn it. YouTube videos would solve this minor problem. This is a must have tool for any serious adventure traveler. There is no competition. Ive tried several other wannabes. I bought the pro version as I like having local topographical information for hiking, treks, etc. Many trail systems are included on the maps with references to water features. This is very handy for day hikes.

Quite good

Since Nat.Geographic screwed up the upgrade, I have used this instead. These maps are detailed and clear. Not only that, there are many options.

My Go-To Map app

The best navigation app I have found! Never crashes on me. Saves me a lot with my limited data plan. Works by GPS so I can use it whenever I go off the grid!

Absolutely amazing app

I dont usually do many reviews. I dont know if you guys read these reviews, but I wanted to personally thank you guys for a truly amazing application. I was just recently on a 2 month, 2100km bicycle tour from Lisbon, Portugal to Barcelona, Spain. This app proved absolutely indispensable. Made my adventure that much more efficient, safe, and enjoyable. Was never worried about being lost in the countryside, always knew where close water sources were, restaurants, pharmacies, I can go on and on. Thank you. One thing I will say is that from time to time the info you had on a restaurant for example, has not been updated and the restaurant no longer exists or has since closed. Also the inverse, some places and information are not yet in the maps. I plan to keep traveling the world for the rest of my life, and I would love to help with anything I can in improving this app! Cheers guys and keep up the great work! Chris P.

Very good

Many usefull details on vector map. For planning weekend trips is for me better than standard Maps app. Last month i used it also abroad with working gps -just great option for free (country map loaded befpre). Recommend it.

Horrible, no instructions

Horrible, no instructions and there is no way to remove a dropped pin and cant even put waypoints in by coordinates that I can find. Waste of money.
