Best navigation app
A brilliant app, must have for every traveller and every hiker! Detailed contour lines and hiking trails are awesome! Recently used it while trekking in Nepal and for cross Asia travel. How did I ever live without it!
Fast and easy to save maps for offline use. Interfaces well with other apps so I can feed coordinates to it. Accepts gpx files. One of the core apps I use, particularly when traveling or hiking. I do not use street routing since my main use is when I am hiking, kayaking, or biking - it would be nice if there was a direct distance option or an option on the main screen to shows the distance to a marked waypoint. Sometimes I want to know how far it is as the crow flies, particularly if there are no marked trails on the map, without looking around for that information. The contour lines have been a welcome addition and hope that shading will be added to the map.
The ease of a smart phone with all the function of a handheld GPS. MAGIC GUYS!!!!
Nothing great about this app other then poor UI & trying to download maps is a pain
Wonderful tool for motorcycle touring. Together with a BT gps dongle and my iPad mini Ive traveled 10000 miles with turn by turn instructions interwoven with music from iTunes.
We like this app because you can add your own POI and have them all visible. You can then see what is coming up as you get closer or plan ahead for the next day. Be sure to download the map for the area if you are out of cell or wifi coverage.
Fantastic app for motorcycling and outdoor activities. Worth every penny for the offline gps capability. Only problem I have encountered so far is the route planning option, it works but...I wish you could navigate from waypoint to waypoint without having to use only the roads i.e. I ride an enduro motorcycle so some are paved roads some are not, the app will navigate you only on roads using the fastest route which causes problems. However this is an excellent app and would recommend to anyone off the beaten path.
I deleted a lot of map apps since finding Pocket Earth. It amazes me how well PE guided me all across Turkey and worked like a charm for Paris train and Metro routes. I once wasted $ on TomTom and Garmin - deleted them. PE even finds ATM machines abroad and at home in Denver! No WiFi required once you download maps. No charge for maps worldwide! I drop color & icon coded pins on our travels and can review trips. Also useful to drop pins before traveling so you can get around to what you want to see. The Wikipedia add on for offline reference ($1) is brilliant. Tip: drop a pin when you park your car and youll always be able to get back to it. This app NEVER gets reviewed in listicles. It makes me angry that no one seems to get this truly fantastic app. I have hundreds of apps on various iPads; this one rules. Best map app, period.
This a great MAP app. Less so a turn by turn navigation app. It also works great to provide progress of your trip. Maps scale better than most.
If you expect a lot more from a maps app than a route and shops, this is for you! I absolutely love pocket maps because it provides details concerning even the type of flora in an area! Incredible work!!!
Can be a bit sluggish at peak hours, but still the best offline map tool. Note: the file size of the United Kingdom map jumped from 500MB to 1.3 GB! That doesnt seem logical! Please keep the map updates to a reasonable size. Thanks!
Awesome to use without wifi. Set up with wifi and then the app will guide u without Internet!!!!!
Skip and buy Gaia GPS, this app is really bad and they make you pay for readily available free apps, get Gaia or get free Avanet
What more to say?! Thanks for free New Years download!
This is a very neat utility! Maps that cover the world, and they are quite detailed and contain things such as power lines where I am in the Western U. S. Easier to use than my Garmin handheld GPS and just like it, does not require cell coverage. And the display is a quantum leap above my Garmin, with better battery life too.
This app was exactly what we needed! Our latest trip through Belize was a breeze to navigate using PocketEarth. Pre-load your map, throw the phone in satellite mode, and your good to go!
I have tried several similar offline maps, and thought this was the best one out there. As an app, it makes - making pins and notes on maps extremely easy and intuitive - very easy to see major transportation stops and stations - is not overly cluttered, but contains the most detailed information - is generally very quick to use Update: the flat design is great! Update 2: the app that I keep on coming back to. Its really good!
